Egypt condemns Manchester terror attack killing 22

CAIRO, May 23 : (Xinhua) – Egypt on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack that took place at a concert in Manchester on Monday, which left 22 people killed and 59 others wounded, including children.

“The execution of such heinous terrorist attack, few days after holding an anti-terror summit in Saudi, underlined the importance that the international community should move immediately to put an effective mechanism and to take strict measures to uproot terrorism,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

Egypt asserted its solidarity with government and people of Britain in combating terrorism, extremism and any attempts of terrorizing the secured citizens, the statement added.

The attack happened when a suicide bomber struck as thousands of fans streamed out of a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande in the city of Manchester on Monday night.

The attack was the deadliest in Britain since July 7, 2005 when four suicide bombers inspired by Al-Qaida attacked London’s transport system during rush hour, killing 52 people and wounding 700 mor.
